Dr. Burnett is a valued IEP team member. Her in-depth study of our case and detailed analysis of the assessments were essential in having a productive IEP meeting. Dr. Burnett is very knowledgeable in all aspects of child development. She is fair, reasonable, and an astute professional. It was clear that Dr. Burnett is well respected in her community. We are so grateful that Dr. Burnett is on our team!

Dr. Burnett has been our son’s advocate all through his schooling so far. She has gone over my sons paperwork/reports with a fine tooth comb. She has helped us get the much needed services in OT, Speech and Language, a one on one and other services he has so desperately has needed. I know our son would not be where he is right now, if it wasn’t for Dr.Burnett and all her help with goals, evaluations, IEP/ IEE help. I would recommend her and her services to anyone whose child is in need of an advocate for his/her education. Dr. Burnett is an amazing Advocate. We appreciate all she has done for our son.

Dr. Susan Burnett has been advocating for my daughter for about four years or so and has done a great job with her knowledge and expertise. Thanks to her my daughter has been getting all the support and services she needs to get ahead. Otherwise the school district would still be giving us the run around B.S. t highly recommend her!:)

Dr. Susan Burnett is a caring, committed, professional who is highly educated and experienced with special education. She helps parents to understand the process ensuring children receive the education they need and are entitled to under the law. Dr. Burnett understands disabilities, is familiar with local schools, and has resources that most parents are unaware of. She assists with understanding children’s school records, testing information, and the IEP. More than anything, she is a valuable support throughout the process, and will help parents become better advocates for their own children. Dr. Burnett gets results by working collaboratively with parents, schools, and other professionals.

Dr Burnett is my hero! She advocated for my special needs child with great detail. She really knows the education system and fought to get us the most and best help. Every family needs an advocate for their child. And I cannot thank her enough for being there for us.

Susan is AMAZING! I started working with Susan in October 2014, and have accomplished so much for my son in a short amount of time. She knows how the Districts operate, who to consult with, when to seek outside advice, and basically everything! She has guided me through IEPs, consultations, drafting correspondence, what additional resources to use, etc. Did I mention she helps with EVERY aspect of getting the right help for my child. I am currently working with Susan in establishing the right path for my child, as she knows and has the vision to see the long-term. I am lucky to have found her, she’s a gem who has passion to help me help my child! Thank you Susan!

I have known Dr. Susan Burnett for about 16 years. My daughter was having difficulty at school both socially and educationally. Dr. Burnett got the right doctors to evaluate my child and as well as her knowledge in finding a way to get her what she needs. An example -Evaluation of the standardized tests from the school district revealed the school psychologist declined services for my daughter in error. Dr. Burnett found the error and got my daughter the help she needed-all the help she needed. She is excellent at what she does. There was a time when I was worried about my daughter passing high school… With Dr. Burnett’s help my daughter just graduated from college and wants to teach children herself. Dr. Burnett changed both my daughters life and mine as well! I will be forever grateful for her help and expertise.

Dr. Burnett is a knowledge and caring professional. She serves her clients by taking the time to gather the appropriate information to best serve her clients. If Dr. Burnett does not know the answer she reaches out to other professionals who can guide her. Dr. Burnett surrounds herself with the most experienced professionals in order to get the best results for her clients.

Dr. Burnett is knowledgeable and skilled in dealing with special education issues. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a talented educational consultant.

Susan is very knowledgeable and unlike some advocates, she realizes that mediation with a school district is often won or lost before the case ever goes to formal mediation. As a result, she works hard to initiate reform in the pre-mediation process. She also has an attorney she can consult on issues that she cannot possibly have expertise with, short of having a law degree and practicing in this area of law for years. I felt very comfortable having her as the advocate for my son.

Dr. Burnett has advocated for my son all through his elementary, middle school and high school, as he has multiple complex learning disabilities. She knows the complexity of learning and the pairing of appropriate methodology and programs to maximize learning potential. She also is quite astute on disability laws as they relate to education rights as well as how to work with school district personnel, who are often reluctant. I can’t imagine how my son would be functioning now without her advocacy. Dr. Burnett has an appropriate balance of being professional and empathic at the same time I would recommend her services to anyone whose child needs an advocate for his/her education.

My daughter was accepted by Cal State University Fullerton and will be studying elementary education.
She is graduating high school in June with a 3.2 GPA in general Ed classes. Thank you for all
your help & support in getting my amazing & profoundly dyslexic daughter the intervention and IEP
outcomes she needed from 3rd grade through high school. I am not a mean person, but I would like to share that it has been my quiet joy watching you shut down East Whittier School District and Whittier Union High School District employees in IEPs. I was grateful each time you crushed them with the weight of what they should be doing for my daughter compared to how little they were doing for her.
You recovered my daughter’s right to learn and be challenged. Your advocacy (and a lawyer here and
there) got her dyslexia-appropriate accommodations and interventions: two summers at
Lindamood-Bell, and outside placement and tutoring. When her 9th-grade transition IEP back to
public school turned into an IEP horror story (they tried to force her into the special day
program), you reviewed the notes and wrote a letter detailing how their reports didn’t say what
they claimed they said. The district offered her a general Ed placement with accommodations
within days of receiving your letter. Thank you for being the heavyweight in our corner of the ring at IEPs. You have been a blessing without which I know we would not be filling out university housing paperwork this month. God bless you, Dr. Susan Burnett & staff!
Sincerely, Thankful mom
